As part of my goal to get "down" with the social networks, I thought I would sign up for the service Digg and even submit a few of my blog posts. If you're not sure what Digg is all about, go check it out. Digg like the other social networking sites is another method that bloggers can use to get their story out there to the rest of the world and drive " trafog " (traffic on blogs - another Chad original word). It’s that last title that brought him celebrity status. Dan is creator of the now famous @MayorEmanuel Twitter feed. For those who missed it, Dan started the feed when former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel began running for mayor of Chicago. Dan expertly mimicked the real Emanuel’s famously combative style and penchant for explitives.

Nearly 53% of respondents said that their marketing departments were responsible for meeting a revenue goal. That figure shows that more marketing departments are moving away from fuzzy measurements towards accounting for their impact on revenue growth.

We were discussing subject line personalization this week, and to settle the debate, we looked at 202 Million emails sent in January 2011. It turns out that personalizing your subject line can help – if you do it right. Emails with someone’s name have open rates about 4.7% over the average. Subject lines that use the recipient’s company name have a lower average rate by 2.6%.
