Different lights for different likes. Remember the lighting of the "Tribute in Light" memorial at ground zero in NY in 2002? I decided to try and find photos and articles on them.

1100 entries. Once the overflow was dealt with, all went smoothly. Mike Ward is back, despite last month's rhumor that he was leavingFoxwoods. He is a blessing. Other than the slight delay in thebeginning, his ability to cope with such a turnout is amazing and Icommend Mike and his entire staff!! My day started out incredibly. First hand in the big blind, I have QQand 5 first hand limpers. I launch a decent raise into the limpersand get two callers, then flop a Qxx. All in. One caller.

Where vocational schools filled a gap during the later half of the 20'th century -- training students in a trade -- traditional schools are now the vocational school. Web programmers, graphics designers, networking skills, these are the vocations of today. These vocations provide opportunity. They aren't simply taught by a teacher who requires a student to use a computer to type a paper. The schools need curriculum and programs to bring the students to the next level.

I was reading an article about a teen who wanted to build a water well for a small village in Africa. For the life of me I can't find reference to it online at all (if you know of the article could you forward it to me please?). While searching though, I uncovered various sites focused on the issue of water. According to UNICEF , more than one billion people in developing countries lack access to safe drinking water, and almost three billion people do not have sanitation facilities.

Inflation is NOT a guaranteed thing -- at least where human slavery is concerned. While going through some old issues of Scientific American while cleaning out my cellar. I came accross this artical The Social Psychology of Modern Slavery: April 2002 which states: In 1850 an agricultural slave cost $1,500 in Alabama (around $30,000 in today's dollars). The equivalent laborer can be had for around $100 today. We shouldn't believe that slavery is just a part of other cultures.

A couple years ago, I went to hear Thich Nhat Hanh (known as Thây) speak at Hynes Auditorium in Boston, and always wanted to mention it in the blog. Thây is a Buddhist monk who has a very large following in the west, and is a prolific writer. The first hour was incredibly spiritual, almost a meditation while he spoke. He spent some time talking about 9-11, and his message of compassion and peace was quite intriguing -- albeit hard to believe Osama bin Laden would even listen.

It is hard to believe that one could lose $30 playing nickle-dime-quarter poker. Tonight I was invited to a friendly game with some old-timers, and although I was break even with one hour to go, I proceeded to lose it. I would have gotten up, but it is a friendly game :-) Just got home and the POP server is broken again :-( so I am just checking out some sites, watching Conan and getting ready to call it a night. Found this interesting page of socially-conscious-sometimes-silly-facts from Moby.

So my father wants to know. What is a Blog? A Blog is a "weB-log". If it's said fast, it sounds like ".Blog". Blog". It is basically a web diary or journal. I have to admit, using Blogger was extremely easy to setup. I used my site's stylesheet in the Blogger template, created a container page to hold it, and voila! Now I am able to type anything from any web browser and have it published to this page. It is definitely a great self-publishing tool - hopefully it will be worth the effort.

I had always had an interest in poker, back to the days of playing on weekends with high school friends to playing all day during college - LOL. Back in the early 90's, I had started playing a regular $1-2 home game in Richmond, and began taking more of an interest in the game, and started reading up on it to improve my game. Then for several years, I was travelling all over the world for business. I stopped drinking in the mid 90's. Cold Turkey.

I mistakenly broke the template for pokerblogs.com, so I haven't been able to post for a bit. Lots of tourney wins. Also, I started working on my limit game. I see this as my weakest area. Working through Bob Ciaffone's books. They read like a collection of articles so are very easy to work through. The best of the lot in my opinion is Pot-Limit & No Limit Poker
