Yet, in much of my social media consulting work corporate blog owners are invariably most interested in total visits and RSS subscribers. Metrics would include the number of times a post is mentioned in other blogs or media, references, RT's, etc. Very helpful post, Jay. Mark, you're spot on!

Most blogs aren’t visually aggressive enough in the promotion of RSS, and very few do a good job at emphasizing the opportunity to subscribe via email (as 40% of C&C subscribers do).
