By contrast, the fourth trend seems to be driven by recognition that small business presents a huge opportunity. Optify was founded in 2008 and launched its original product, a search engine optimization (SEO) tool, about a year later. Small businesses willing to invest some effort should be pleased with the results. Yesterday’s post described one strategy to sell marketing automation to small businesses: provide a specific, turnkey service that requires virtually no skill or effort from the user. Hubspot has accepted this challenge.

SalesPredict is a perfect example: a small vendor with a powerful system that just launched earlier this year. Back in, say, 2008, a product like this would be big news. However, it’s likely that the company will remain small-business-friendly in its approach.

Alexa is a crude measure for many reasons -- although I do think the rankings correlate roughly with a vendor's volume of business and marketing actvitiy, I wouldn't go much further. Silverpop's figures may also be inflated by its consumer email production business. David) There are no huge surprises.

Pardot : another pretty powerful product; see my blog review from December 2008. They aim to be a complete business operating system for very small companies (under 25 employees).
