I feel like you’re at every conference I attend. So if you attract heavy competition, that means you’re on to something and you’ve got first mover advantage. Matt: What does it mean to have first mover advantage, because I think you guys have been doing this longer than almost anyone else?

I would have hired movers to pack the boxes so I could watch the Masters. I have actually had movers pack me the last two times I’ve moved, and that, my friend, is an investment worth making. They were first. I have yet to meet a vendor who does that. Eric Boggs, a billion dollars? A billion dollars for Instagram?

The first time I tried to stand up on a board was in a lagoon in north San Diego county. Looking back, there were a lot of obvious parallels when I started my first company, CoolerEmail, 15 years ago. I was doing consulting and working on building software that made it easy for people to design, send, and track email newsletters.
