Marketing automation provider Marketo has just published The Definitive Guide to Lead Nurturing , a white paper that provides real value, covering the lead nurturing process from the basic how and why through ROI measurement. Unlike most white papers, this guide is very light on marketing (selected pages have sidebars headed “How Marketo Does It” rather than embedding marketing copy in the content—a nice touch). Vendors can post their company name, website link, and one product/service name with a description for free, or sign up for the "Plus" membership enabling them to do additional promotion; post assets such as white papers, videos and presentations; invite their customers to contribute reviews; interact with the community; and generate leads. In comparison to something like Google AdWords, depending on campaign efficiency, FYIndOut's cost per lead runs 30%-100% higher, but—the leads should theoretically be more qualified, and vendors pay only for accepted leads. It's been obvious for some time that social media has an increasing role in b2b marketing , and that b2b companies will increasingly invest marketing dollars there as social media marketing practices become more standardized .

In this post, I want to expand on my original post to discuss how PR can play a more conscious role in SEO, whether a press release, blog posting, case study, white paper and more.
I've now started using tools like Wordtracker , Google Adwords Keyword Tool and more to determine what key phrases/keywords are more strategic for what I'm writing.
I've been in public relations for over 10 years. But it wasn't until I went in-house in late 2005 that I even heard these three letters: S - E - O.

You would be amazed at how you can reuse the content you already have (blog posts, newsletter articles, industry white papers, demos) and create a specific and defined automated program that is designed to target a specific segment and has a specific marketing goal. Create marketing campaigns that can be reused . When I say that you should become an eco-marketer, I don't mean that you should add some corny green recycle image to your website (who would do that?)
