Just as a sidenote, I thought ironic the fact that for a “digital marketing conference&# that focused on social media (blogs, wikis, twitter, facebook, etc.) the AMA Tampa Bay chapter didn’t have a blog, a wiki, or a discussion forum on their website where attendees could continue the conversation. In terms of logistics, I used my blog to post each day's activities.This gave people something to look forward to each day, plus they could use RSS to subscribe to the feed. For the Comment Challenge we set up a wiki where we could keep track of the participants, the entire month of activities, etc. Learning and Training.

Here are some random thoughts from a collection of these experiences and feedback from conference speeches: 1) Features are NOT user experiences: Warning…if you ask someone about desired user experience and they say wiki or forum, you have work to do. 4) None of the following are community platforms: Wikis, Blogs or Forums.

At Training 2006, I was SHOCKED to see only 5 hands go up out of an audience of 200 who said they read blogs to find out whats happening. If you are among the other 195 people, the first step is to get an RSS reader. For example: Magazines publish their contents as RSS feeds or see my post about RSS Feeds from Static Magazines.
