Both products integrate with salesforce.com (and Eloqua with several others). and link these to profiles in salesforce.com. I’m glad to know about Manticore because people do occasionally ask about this sort of system and balk at the cost of Eloqua and even-more-expensive Vtrenz (just purchased by Silverpop ; see last week's post ).

Judging from the press releases on their Web site, this may be due to a new release last October that added Salesforce.com integration. Their ranking is still very low, but has increased substantially. I'll explore further when time permits.

Salesforce.com is the big question and no one would be surprised to see them make an acquisition. Again, there was already one transaction: Silverpop/Vtrenz in 2007. The more interesting question is who will be the buyers. The obvious candidates are CRM vendors. Enterprise software vendors like SAP and Infor are also likely buyers.

I do recognize that they are the best known vendors in the space (with apologies to Vtrenz , whose identity is somewhat blurred since its purchase by Silverpop ). But what really concerns me is that these people are apparently limiting their consideration to just those two products. Pricing starts at $250 per month and averages around $500.
