You can remove sitemaps, validate. But especially when you share on content aggregators, like Reddit, those create actual links for Google to crawl. If you Google that right now, you'll probably find a lot of very old pages, Wikipedia pages. You can go in there and you can submit sitemaps. You can do this in your browser URL.
