Admit You're a Sales Lead Management Nerd Like Me
The issues surrounding sales lead generation, B2B prospect nurturing and sales opportunities take most of my professional attention, and I would venture a guess that readers of this blog are similarly pre-occupied.
But as a business person working in technology-oriented industries, I'm increasingly aware of how we are impacted by trends surrounding the state of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, including:
-
The current STEM workforce is 82% white, 75% male and nearing retirement.
-
Women earn disproportionately fewer bachelor's degrees in STEM-related fields.
-
Roughly half of U.S. students who begin pursuing engineering degrees don't complete them.
-
16% of all undergraduate degrees are awarded in STEM fields in the U.S. compared to more than 50% in China.
Over the last couple of years, through my involvement on the boards of the TAG Education Collaborative and the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), I've learned how these trends challenge our young people, impact our businesses future workforce, and threaten the competitiveness of our economy.
I invite you to learn more about these issues and the significant support STEM education in your area warrants. If you're interested, you can find more information at TAG Education Collaborative.
