Last week I attended one of the largest sales and marketing conferences, INBOUND 2015, a 4-day event designed to help marketing and sales professionals deepen their knowledge of inbound marketing through a combination of inspiring presentations and breakout sessions led by experts and thought leaders. Below is my personal recap (1 of 9) from the breakout sessions I attended and my key takeaways from each session.
Intersection of Content and Social Media, presented by Sonia Simone from Copyblogger.
This session focused on how your social media posting should be about content promotion and how vital it is to always optimize your content for social sharing. Attach share links on every post so that it is easy for readers to retweet or repost your content to maximize the amount of people who will read your content. Since social media is used for content and engagement, the rule of thumb is that at first, posts are for content promotion and then comes engagement from that content. If you are not sure which platform to use for specific content understand that Twitter is for socialization, while LinkedIn is more for a conversation.
Use your social platforms as listening platforms. Find out what’s going on with your customers, leads, or prospects, discover what pains they may have, what frustrates them, or what they are having trouble with, and use this information they’ve shared to help you solve their problems.
“The content and the conservation are a celebration of the customer and his/her experience.”-Sonia Simone
What is there to celebrate? What does your organization do to make your audience’s world better?
