Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is information that when combined with other data or just used alone, can be used to identify an individual.Â
PII can contain quasi-identifiers (e.g., age) that when combined with other quasi-identifiers (e.g., race) can be used to successfully identify an individual. There are also direct identifiers within PII, (e.g., social security number) that can be used alone to identify a unique individual.Â
Be careful at all times when handling PII, as you are handling sensitive information about other people.
