Walker Sands Continues Growth With Acquisition of B2B Demand Generation Agency KoMarketing

Walker Sands has constantly evolved during my 15 years at the agency, which is part of the reason we’ve landed on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies every year for the past decade. And the ongoing innovation that continues to take place across the agency ensures we stay at the forefront of B2B marketing trends.

The Walker Sands growth story has many chapters.

Our public relations department has scaled rapidly as we have established deep expertise and thought leadership in high-growth B2B industries like fintech, HR tech, IT services, martech and retail tech.

In recent years, our creative capabilities and team have exploded as more clients realize the power of bringing B2C thinking to B2B marketing.

All the while, demand generation has served as the backbone of our integrated offerings — a relatively small but mighty team almost always at the center of our best campaigns and biggest programs.

Today, I’m excited to announce the next chapter in our story: We’re making a major investment in the expansion of our demand generation capabilities with the acquisition of KoMarketing, a 30-person B2B digital marketing firm headquartered in Boston. The deal instantly triples the size of our demand generation team, giving us more robust digital marketing expertise alongside our branding, creative, PR, strategy and web capabilities to strengthen our integrated marketing offerings.

It’s another big piece of the puzzle as we continue on our growth journey and work to become the best B2B marketing agency in the world.

Deepening Our B2B Demand Gen Expertise

With core expertise in SEO, paid advertising and content marketing, along with a track record of consistent organic growth underpinned by long-term client relationships, KoMarketing was a clear fit for the agency.

While we’re most excited about adding scale to our paid media and SEO capabilities, the acquisition also deepens our digital expertise in areas such as media buying, link-building, content syndication, and international paid and SEO programs. Conversely, we round out KoMarketing’s capabilities in areas like marketing automation, web development and in-house creative production.

Additionally, KoMarketing broadens our industry expertise in sectors like industrial and manufacturing. You can read more about KoMarketing’s client work here.

With the integration of KoMarketing, Walker Sands now has more than 200 talented employees across five offices in Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Boston and Atlanta, as well as remote team members nationwide thanks to our hybrid workplace policy. We’ve achieved significant growth in Boston since our acquisition of March Communications in 2021, and we’re excited to further grow our East Coast presence with KoMarketing.

Unlocking New Opportunities With Our Shared Vision

I couldn’t be more excited to welcome 30 new team members to the agency, including KoMarketing’s managing partners Derek Edmond and Steven Wells.

Our early conversations with Derek and Steven revealed common ground on the things that matter most to our respective agencies — our core values, people-first philosophy, commitment to craft excellence, and a desire to raise the bar in B2B marketing.

Together, we believe we can accelerate opportunities for our people to grow their careers as we build out new capabilities, grow with the company as we expand our geographic footprint, and do great work with top B2B clients. At the end of the day, we have a shared passion for working with innovative clients while doing right by our people, which will ultimately bring us closer to our vision of becoming the best B2B marketing agency in the world.

We’re excited to join forces with Derek, Steven and the rest of the KoMarketing team to accelerate growth for our clients. Interested in learning more about our demand generation capabilities? Contact our team here.
