What’s the best way to shorten the URL for links in my Tweet? Many URLs are long and full of gobbledygook. You don’t want these long URLs eating up most or all of the 140 characters you have in each Tweet! The good news is that when you submit your Tweet, Twitter automatically shortens your URL.

If possible, after you enter the URL to the link you want to share, you can go back and delete it! See the example above – typically you will cut and paste the URL for the link after your update message. Once the content properly populates below the update field, go back and delete the URL as shown.

Some say that a separate URL gives you more opportunity to “own” the first page of Google search engine results. That way the blog move with you no matter where you work.

When you pass out one sheets or brochures at a meeting or at a presentation you give, most include your website URL so that those who are interested can go to your website and get more information. A QR code on the one sheet or brochure can help them get to the site quicker, without keying in a (sometimes) long URL.
