Checklist Deep Dive: Webinar Recording + Q&A

Categories

When you’re building an email, there are a lot of elements to track. You need to make sure your subject line and preview text aren’t too long, links aren’t broken, ALT text for images show up—and that’s just the beginning. A defined list to guide you through the QA of each email can help.

Litmus Checklist is built for that exact purpose. We covered how to automate your pre-send testing process and enable your team to send error-free emails that perform, faster, in our latest customer webinar.

Q&A

A big thank you to everyone who chimed in during the webinar with a question! Here’s a recap of our answers to the most popular questions. Have any additional questions? Please leave them in the comments.

When would you recommend running a checklist during the email process?

It’s up to you when, but generally the most accurate results will come when you run a Checklist directly using an email directly from your ESP, right before you send.

You can also include it as a line item in your own personal checklists. I know some folks have literal paper checklists, or checklists already set up in their project management software. That doesn’t mean you don’t need to run a Litmus checklist, you can just add it as one of your checks.

How do I know which previews to make mandatory in Checklist?

There are a few different ways, and the right choice truly depends on your audience:

  1. Test your email in every single email client and device. This choice might mean you focus too much effort on clients that don’t represent your audience.
  2. Only test in the most popular email clients. However, it’s possible that your audience doesn’t necessarily represent the most popular email clients.
  3. Use a third-party analytics tool like Litmus Email Analytics or even your ESP’s analytics to see the clients that your audience uses so you can focus your efforts there.

Can I share an email’s Checklist with teammates or external stakeholders who don’t have Litmus accounts?

Yes! You’ll want to use the Share button, then generate a public link. Check out the detailed instructions in our help article.
