No execs listed on website, so I sent an email to sales@whisystems.com. No Put his name in the search function and “Sorry. No I know business is bad, but my God, someone please answer the damned phone!
I’m on the phones all day, and I’m appalled by what I encounter. As As a good friend says, it’s “amateur hour.”

Helping a newly formed B2B company create their first Website spurred me to visit dozens of sites in search of examples I could show them from their industry that follow best practices.
The way people interact with Websites does not change even if the site is a B2B company with no e-commerce involved (although Amy has reported that experienced visitors interact somewhat differently from novices).
In the process, I made a sad discovery. Not one followed what I know are the most basic rules of good Web design.

According to Pew's exhaustive annual review of American journalism, the majority of online readers rely on only two-to-five websites for most of their news. Search, of course, is an essential way that buyers find the information they're looking for online, and recommendations from friends and colleagues on Twitter, Facebook, Google Reader, and the like are coming on fast. B2B marketers are getting used to the idea that we have to think of ourselves more as media organizations and publishers than pitchmen and promoters. Does your website have a home page? Ok, that's a stupid question but because of the preponderance of use of search engines in browsing the web, home pages are just not the same as they once were. site can now have multiple home pages depending on what search query was used to end up on your website. In 2007, the mention of content marketing brought as many blank stares from small business owners as the mention of a website did 10 years before. In fact, in 1997 when we started our small business magazine in Southwest Florida, few owners had websites, let alone an online marketing strategy.

Last week I attended Search Engine Strategies in San Jose and joined in on a session about Duplicate Content. 0160; This happens frequently for B2C companies, as many companies may be selling the same product with similar product descriptions on different websites. 0160; While B2B companies may not be selling products on consumer sites, we still have to deal with the potential problems caused by content duplication. B2B duplicate 0160; This session was very interesting, but since it was not part of their B2B track, was not focused specifically on how it affects B2B marketers.

We get asked how much a website should cost at least once a week. When they learn what we do for a living , they invariably ask us "what should my website cost?" If only it were easy to give a good answer. They are in the middle of a very costly redesign of their B2C website and I couldn't help but ask if they had plans to set up on Facebook as well. Anyway I found myself thinking - why does any business need a website any more? With Facebook Fan pages you can build your own website on the Facebook "Platform" . I was talking to a small business owner last night. Right now, I have Facebook on the brain.
