Problems persist for a number of reasons, but these three appear to be the most prevalent in my investigation: Browsers don’t always provide referring URLs. Twitter reporting relies on having accurate and complete referring URL data. You don’t control the URL that is shared.

As LinkedIn share buttons pop up across the web and share counts climb, it appears LinkedIn is quickly becoming a major platform for sharing articles and links.
