I recently received a question from a Marketo customer about best use of links in emails. Essentially, the customer wanted to know how and when to put links in an email communication to a prospect. link should be identifiable to the email reader by the color and because it is underlined. Example: [link].

When you’re the marketer or copywriter or Agency social media guru charged with fitting key messages and a link into Twitter dress, a huge amount, I’ll venture. Depending on what shorten URL service you now use, significant keystrokes are likely yours for the picking. URL native support just makes life easier. Or not.

Any business using Twitter , Facebook , or other social media knows that short URLs are a great way for people to share your links without taking up all of the characters available in the message. Instead of me trying to tweet this full URL, [link] , which eats up 69 of my 140 characters, I can use a service like bit.ly

A link can be worth £100 ($139) or it can be worth 1p (1¢). came across the following question on LinkedIn today and thought it perfectly illustrated the question “What is a link worth?” Here’s My Answer: Depending on the types of links this service gets, £100 can be a great deal or a waste of money.

On Tuesday Genius.com announced the Genius URL Shortener (GURL), which makes it easier to measure the results of social media campaigns. At first I thought: “what’s new about that? , and Marketo wrote a post on an alternative way to create tracking links. Twitter made the URL shorteners popular, like tinyURL and bit.ly.
