Business Rules Forum Targets Enterprise Decisioning as the Next Big Thing

Customer Experience Matrix

I’m headed back from the combined Business Rules Forum / Rules Technology Summit / Rules Expo conference in Orlando. Theme of the conference was ‘Enterprise Decisioning Comes of Age’. The general idea is that business rules have been applied extensively in a few areas, including fraud detection and insurance rating, and are now poised to play a larger role in coordinating decisions throughout the enterprise.

Think more, do less

markempa

Are you too busy to think? Many of us feel that way at times. As simple as it seems, finding time to think effectively is vital to developing a solid sales, marketing and lead generation strategy. Without question, our mindsets ultimately influence our strategic choices. Which is why I think Michael Webb's post on the subject of thinking differently and banishing waste from sales and marketing is very compelling.

7 Things I Didn’t Get Out of SMX Social Media and 2 Important Things That I Did

KoMarketing Associates

Heading from NYC last night, I started thinking about what I would tell the rest of my colleagues as it relates to how and what was learned from SMX Social Media. Well here are some things that didn’t happen : I still don’t feel comfortable adding Danny Sullivan or Neil Patel to my Facebook network. No one gave me the social media “quick fix” idea that I thought would be worth risking my profile or IP getting banned in respective communities.

Neolane Offers a New Marketing Automation Option

Customer Experience Matrix

Neolane , a Paris-based marketing automation software vendor, formally announced its entry to the U.S. market last week. I’ve been tracking Neolane for some time but chose not to write about it until they established a U.S. presence. So now the story can be told. Neolane is important because it’s a full-scale competitor to Unica and the marketing automation suites of SAS and Teradata , which have pretty much had the high-end market to themselves in recent years.

Marketing Performance Measurement: No Answers to the Really Tough Questions

Customer Experience Matrix

I recently ran a pair of two-day workshops on marketing performance measurement. My students had a variety of goals, but the two major ones they mentioned were the toughest issues in marketing: how to allocate resources across different channels and how to measure the impact of marketing on brand value. Both questions have standard answers. Channel allocation is handled by marketing mix models, which analyze historical data to determine the relative impact of different types of spending.

Where's the passion in B2B marketing?

I spoke yesterday at MarketingSherpa's Demand Generation Summit and I felt led to go off topic for a bit to address why I do, what I do. Personally, I've been pondering the idea of passion and what role it plays in our careers as marketers or leaders. Read Mike Volpe's summary of my presentation at the the Small Business Hub Blog. In my short aside, I ended up talking about things we marketers often don't talk about.

Automated Customer Scoring - Going Beyond Leads

Anything Goes Marketing

Automated Lead scoring is a term that many in the B2B world are familiar with. Essentially, you take the typical manual lead qualification process that a sales rep or call center does over the phone to find the best leads and let technology do this for you. Can you apply this same concept to customers? I think you can and those of you in B2C already do this quite well.
