Why We Stopped Doing Single Show Sponsorships on Marketing Made Simple TV

This is why the popular and widely syndicated “TV on the Web” show Marketing Made Simple TV got rid of single show sponsorships.

In 2012, one could sponsor a single show of Marketing Made Simple TV. Just book your CEO and pay a small fee, and your Call to Action is on the show.

One small problem however. Expectations were that they would get lots of leads, while the reality of one isolated marketing event is that results are very limited. “We sponsored a show last year, but we only got one good lead.” is a comment we got from one company who sponsored a single show.

Frankly, in my opinion, if you sponsored just one isolated event, you’re lucky to get even one lead!

Actually, Eloqua sponsored a three month test of Marketing Made Simple TV last year - but that was prior to our “guaranteed leads” program. They did not get enough leads, but they also did not support it very well. (Eloqua did zero promotions of the show.) And the person at Eloqua who approved it, Doug Seachrist, left Eloqua and is now with the Call Center software firm, Five9.com.

This is, frankly, why we worked so hard recently to improve our offerings for Marketing Made Simple TV, including our new guaranteed sales leads program. We faced reality too - it takes time to get results.

And it was marketing expert, Sandra Zoratti, co-author of Precision Marketing who said to me “Jeff, it takes a long time to  get results from a marketing program. For Marketing Made Simple TV sponsorship. I strongly recommend you insist on a full year sponsorship.

Sandra’s right, and as a highly respected marketing expert, we should listen to her.

Single-show sponsorships are gone and three month sponsorships are no longer encouraged. We recommend a 12 month sponsorship , including additional video content and guaranteed sales leads.
