I've been reading a few articles lately about how some user-generated content ad campaigns such as the one that Dove ran called Dove Cream Oil Body Wash Ad Contest "failed" as it wasn't well received by the YouTube community. It means that YouTube is much more then just a community in itself as Shmuel perceived it.

I've worked with companies that have started one and then they died along with other collaboration tools such as an internal wiki, forum and RSS feeds. There wasn't global adaptation of these tools and we weren't forced to use them. Putting that same video on YouTube and other PUBLIC video sharing platforms is. Why did it fail?
