HubSpot filed its much-anticipated S-1 for a public stock offering yesterday. Since the company has been admirably transparent all along about its finances, there were no big surprises: they lose considerable money, as expected, but their expenses seem about in line. Marketo’s R&D costs are also now more in line, at 21% of revenue.

Maybe it's me, but the show seemed to lack some of its usual self-congratulatory excitement: for example, CEO Brian Halligan didn’t present the familiar company scorecard touting growth in customers and revenues. HubSpot released its 2012 Year in Review today, reporting 82% revenue growth, to $52.5 This reflects HubSpot's aggressive moves to serve larger companies and provide expanded features for traditional marketing automation such as more robust email and lead nurturing. Number of clients grew by 42%, to 8,440.

The company gave me a brief preview of the App Marketplace back in May, when the public beta had just launched. Both events mark a continued expansion of their product.

This followed the previous week’s rumor that Google-parent Alphabet is consideringan offer for Salesforce-competitor HubSpot , and came the same week as a slew of partnership announcements tied to Snowflake’s Marketing Data Cloud Forum.
