You could say that Blogger is a massive user generated content platform that provides Google with a tremendous amount of marketshare in the blog space. We'll see if this works or not but for a "news hungry" world, this is something that should really take off. CNN has jumped on the UGC train as well with its new CNN Exchange.

Although I'm a big supporter of environmental issues and started my career running an environmental organization , I would like to focus on eco-marketing in terms of demand creation. With an RSS feed, you can promote in your email footers and it can be re-used by other bloggers and companies. Everyone needs to work together.
