That said, these bloggers are the victims. In the five years that we’ve been reaching out to bloggers, we’ve learned just as much about how NOT to pitch as we’ve learned about the right ways. Tweet Last night I met three other bloggers at the Publicity Club of New England’s “Blogger Relations for PR Pros” event. It was good for me to get out and meet other bloggers and to hear what PR pros are trying to accomplish. The one thing I learned, that wasn’t brought up at the meeting, is this: When you’re pitching bloggers, you definitely need a strategy. You need to determine what your news is and which type of blogger you should be pitching. The news agency blogger needs content all day long. BIZNOLOGY | TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2011 Blogger outreach is scary Unlike a few years ago, today everyone at least pays lip service to reaching out to bloggers the same we PR people have always reached out to mainstream media. But I am still surprised that many companies don’t do blogger outreach, even today. Simply put, blogger outreach is scary. It is true that bloggers are unpredictable and we all know, thanks to posts by the Consumerist and the Bad Pitch Blog , that one false move and you’re public mincemeat. My My definition–and my assumption–has always been that blogger outreach is public relations and not paid media. recently had a Twitter chat with Serena Ehrlich , Director of Marketing for Mogreet during which we discussed the fine points of blogger outreach.
