SEO (search engine optimization) spending as a percentage of paid search is decreasing as reported in Marketing Sherpa's new " Top 7 Search Marketing Insights for 2005 ". SEO went from 12% to 10% of paid search from 2005 to 2006. Nope - it was email! Check out this study on emarketer.com: E-Mail Is Top Conversion Channel for Financial Publisher. What is interesting is that if you combine organic and paid search, it still doesn't add up to the conversion rate of email according to the chart that is provided. For example, pick a specific segment such as a key vertical and choose leads generated from a specific channel such as Google Adwords. The concept of lead nurturing is something that is complex for some but very straightforward for others.
