Marketing automation vendor Alterian yesterday announced its acquisition of social media monitoring company Techrigy. Even though the Techgrity deal is the first direct acquisition I recall of a social media monitoring system by a marketing automation vendor, it strikes me as an obvious step. Others are sure to follow.

On Wednesday, IBM announced formal completion of its acquisition of Unica. It has grown by thickening its offline features and, more recently, by expanding into adjacent slices: online operations and, with the Omniture acquisition, online analytics. On Thursday, the New York Times reported speculation that Microsoft could buy Adobe.

Presumably the Microsoft acquisition will change those last two. But I’ll make it easy for you (with apologies that I still haven’t figured out how to do a proper table within Blogger). DATAllegro’s contribution was the software to distribute data across and within the hardware nodes and to manage queries against that data.
