Why Are Marketing Automation Managers So Hard to Find?

LeadSloth

According to Forrester, only  2-5% of B2B firms have invested in full-featured Marketing Automation. Even though some vendors have been around for almost 10 years, Marketing Automation is still relatively new. But that percentage is rapidly growing. Increasingly, B2B companies realize that Marketing Automation software requires skilled operators. But – if you decide to hire a Marketing Automation manager – what should you look for, and where do you find them? New technology requires people with a new set of skills, nothing new about that. But that’s for web analysts.

Is social media effective for B2B lead generation?

Sales Lead Insights

talks about a recent Forrester Research study that looks at social media’s influence on the business technology buyer. I’m probably biased, but I believe the primary objective of business-to-business marketing is driving sales of the company’s products and services. Of course branding and awareness are also roles that can be played effectively by B2B marketing, but from my point of view these are only supporting roles—secondary to the primary objective of helping drive sales. What’s all this have to do with social media? about a survey they recently conducted.

Forrester and IDC think Sales Enablement is a Big Deal. and We Agree!

The ROI Guy

A new role has emerged at many leading B2B companies, Sales Enablement, and recent research from Forrester and IDC proves this new sales enablement practice as the key linchpin required to help a B2B company bridge the gap between their business strategies and how they execute in the field. According to Forrester, companies are spending worldwide, on average, 19% of their SG&A costs, some $135,262 per quota-carrying salesperson, in sales support-related activities. Why You Should Be Thinking Video in Your Email Marketing

Junta 42

This recent Forrester study caught my eye - that incorporating video into email can increase click-through rates two-to-three times ( full report here from Forrester for $749). To find out more, I called my colleague (and customer) Todd Smart from VideoNewsletters.com. Todd confirmed that click-through rates are indeed significantly higher with video newsletters - but, warned me on the following: The quality of the video DOES matter. Like with any other content marketing vehicle, the video must be valuable, relevant and compelling - stay away from the sales pitches.

So I was more than a little perplexed to see the Aberdeen ranking, especially because I wasn’t aware that Aberdeen produced something similar to the Forrester “waves” and Gartner “magic quadrants”. I occasionally do some development work in QlikView and have made no secret that I think it's a great product. Indeed, it turns out that the AXIS program is brand new.

It's All About Revenue

When my career began to take a new shape, it was his reports (when he was an analyst at Forrester Research) and writing on “ Experience: The Blog ” that, unbeknownst to him, helped me clarify what I wanted to do, why I wanted to do it, and how I wanted to do it. In 2009, the challenge was to get companies to start listening and responding on Facebook and Twitter. Forrester’s POST approach can seem painfully simple, but it’s a great reminder to start with people, objectives and strategies, and leave technology and tactics for the end.

Who is the social media voice for your business?

Beyond

You don't often hear phrases like "305% ROI" attached to discussions about social media, so I was delighted to read, via Kipp Bodnar , about Forrester's recent research into "live chat" as a sales tool. Basically, the point of the research was to show that having a "live" person manning the chatroom, fielding enquiries from prospects, is a sound investment for 'big-ticket' B2B sales.
