Tableau Software Adds In-Memory Database Engine

Customer Experience Matrix

Back in 2007, my main complaint was that Tableau lacked a data engine. The system is also designed to work with data sets that are too large to fit into memory: it will use as much memory as possible and then access the remaining data from disk storage. Ah, I knew them when. Tableau has added some nice end-user enhancements too.

NICE Buys Causata to Extend Its Customer Experience Management Position

Customer Experience Matrix

It turns out that while NICE still sells primarily to contact center managers, it is working hard to expand to clients in marketing, sales, compliance (it bought Actimize in 2007) and other areas related to customer experience. Customer Experience Matrix

I was going to start this post by writing that last-click attribution has recently come under fire, but the first Google hit on the topic brings up a study from 2007. But it is working to automatically feed those findings as rules into execution systems such as ad servers and ad exchanges. So maybe the criticism isn’t particularly new.

Unica Strategy Stays the Course

Customer Experience Matrix

The one major acquisition in 2007 was Marketing Central, which provides hosted marketing resource management. This surprises me a bit, although I suppose many firms never saw the need to replace systems that were already working. This was well within Unica’s traditional scope, although the “hosted” part is a bit of a change.
