PR Meets Marketing

One of my most popular posts last year was my summary of 2008 trend lists. To me, these seem almost second nature! So what do I think will be top trends for 2009? Here are my top three:  .

The Role of SEO in PR

PR Meets Marketing

I've been in public relations for over 10 years. But it wasn't until I went in-house in late 2005 that I even heard these three letters: S - E - O. Search engine optimization, what's that?  . Little did I know how important this was. Without the magic of SEO, people wouldn't be able to find you on the ever-powerful Google and other search engines. And PR's role is more important than we realize.  .

I am Joseph Jaffe

PR Meets Marketing

In early April, my husband and I attended the Blogger Social in New York. This was a great event, meeting all these great bloggers. What was extra special is the support that this community provides to one another. As part of the last night dinner, a donation was given to the Frozen Pea Fund , a non-profit organization to fight cancer. So why am I wearing a "I am Joseph Jaffe" name tag? The catch? Anyone

Brave New World of Media Pitching: Twitter

PR Meets Marketing

I have a page about how to pitch a blogger , but I'm realizing that this goes beyond pitching bloggers vs. traditional media. It's how do we pitch people in general?  . The traditional standards still apply: get to know the person you're pitching, understand his or her preferences for pitching, and make sure you're pitching something relevant. The questions now is, which is better? What about you?

Is Twitter Just a Popularity Contest?

PR Meets Marketing

I've been thinking about this recently. notice that certain folks seem to have very active, two-way conversations or multi-person chats on Twitter. PR Agency - Retainer Becoming More Popular?

PR Meets Marketing

Over the past few weeks, I've been hearing that more agencies are working on projects on a retainer basis vs hourly. My understanding is that the retainer enables an agency to focus on the work versus the administration.  . This is intriguing, because I previously wrote that charging by the hour contributed to part of the bad image that PR folks have. Does this result in better quality work?
