Easy Tip: Maximizing Your Whitepaper Downloads

Anything Goes Marketing

I'm going through my old emails and I found one of those rare MarketingSherpa studies that are "open to the public". This is a great one that focuses on B2B lead generation. As you can see from the chart , people who are accessing white papers less frequently would prefer not to have to fill out a form. Really? don't think you knew that! It's pretty obvious that we all hate filling out a form.

B2B Lead management is far from an easy task

B2B Lead Generation Blog

Companies that adopt effective lead management processes generate more revenue from their lead generation investment and have overall higher close rates on marketing generated leads than those that do not. But I've encountered very few companies that really do lead management. What is lead management? Lead management is a multistage process that manages the conversion of sales leads to customers.

In Memoriam – My Grandmother

PR Meets Marketing

My grandmother (June 1913 - September 2007). originally started writing my blog to share my thoughts about marketing and PR. Even though I've been writing for a short period of time, I've met some very interesting people and forging friendships. Though I don't believe many people have missed my postings, I wanted to explain why I've gone silent. And I did struggle about whether or not I should write this. In the end, I've started on the road to opening myself professionally, and to a degree, personally.  . My grandmother passed last week and I traveled to New York for the services.

Tableau Software Makes Good Visualization Easy

Customer Experience Matrix

I took a close look recently at Tableau data visualization software. liked Tableau a lot, even though it wasn’t quite what I expected. I had thought of it as a way to build aesthetically-correct charts, according to the precepts set down by Edward Tufte and like-minded visualization gurus such as Stephen Few. But even though Tableau follows many of these principles, it is less for building charts than interactive data exploration. This is admittedly a pretty subtle distinction, since the exploration is achieved through charts. to see if they explain differences in the sales price.)

Who will be the Next President? Mr. or Mrs. Widget

Anything Goes Marketing

Widgets are becoming more and more popular these days as additional tools for marketers. Widgets have been around for a while but they are being used more frequently (especially on social media sites) which is why they are gaining additional attention. There are different types of widgets but I will be focusing on web widgets as I found a great one for all of my American friends. According to Wikipedia, a web widget is a small piece of code that you add to a web page. You also have desktop widgets (for example, the ones that come with Windows Vista, Apple and Yahoo widgets ). This says it all.

Social Media: Where Does Sincerity Fit in?

PR Meets Marketing

I've read a lot about transparency and authenticity  being key in this increasingly open and social world. started wondering how sincerity fits into the picture.  . The assumption is that transparency and authenticity will automatically equate to sincerity, but this may not always be the case. The challenge that we have as marketers and PR practioners is how we are perceived by our target audiences - customers, analysts, media and bloggers. With text based communications, sincerity is difficult to communicate. Or truly sincere but perceived otherwise. The sincerity factor would disappear.

Press Coverage: Impact on Website Traffic?

PR Meets Marketing

While I was at an agency, I had managed the Mindjet account for a few months. One time, our client had mentioned the precise number of hits that Mindjet received after an article was published. I had previously mentioned how you can use customized links or URL redirects to track traffic to a particular page.    Though this method has its benefits, it can be labor intensive. So I was intrigued by his ability to track clicks. Going in-house provided this enlightenment. It was website analytics. You can even get information about how long a viewer perused your website and the number of pageviews.
